Position Overview
Phlebotomist (Job code: CVDJP00035286) - contract with potential for permanent. Projected duration 3 months, offering permanent employment can be pursued.

Location & Schedule
Float positions across multiple sites in the Liverpool, NY area: Auburn, Watertown, Oneida, Ithaca, Syracuse, East Syracuse, Liverpool, Camillus. The schedule is Monday-Friday 6:45 am-5:30 pm (varied) with rotating Saturdays 7:00-11:00 am.

Responsibilities

Perform phlebotomy on all types of patients, including blood draws, hard sticks and needles, urine, and thyroid testing.

Experience with blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information.

Explain procedures in a clear, courteous manner.

Demonstrate use of straight needles and/or butterfly needles and match physician orders to laboratory requisition forms.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.

Ensure 100% accuracy of test requisitions and labels.

Package specimens for transport, maintain correct temperature and containers, and follow protocols to preserve specimen integrity.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, answer telephone calls, and read laboratory results to respond to inquiries.

Qualifications

Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

Minimum six months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.

Minimum 1.5 years of overall experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.

Requirements
Clean driving record, reliable transportation, and mileage reimbursement.
