Psychology Interns

Provides brief intervention and consultation within primary care.

Provides consultation to primary care providers on issues related to behavioral medicine.

Complies with all Mental Health Service documentation requirements.

Adheres to all MVAMC and MHS policies and practices for delivering clinical care.

At the GS-13 level, Psychologists are fully licensed and function independently as a member of the MVAMC medical staff with full clinical privileges.

Administrative Responsibilities

Assists the section, program, or discipline lead in the design, development, and implementation of clinical assessment and/or intervention programs.

Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the treatment team.

Assists the section, program, or discipline lead in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects.

Liaisons with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services.

Complies with national and local performance measures and facilitates organizational success on these measures at the section or program level.

Complies with all MVAMC and MHS policies and expectations concerning administrative practices.

Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Chief of Psychology, the Chief of MHS (or designee), the Chief of Staff, and/or MVAMC leadership.

Attends and participates in monthly Psychology section staff meetings, Psychology training faculty meetings, Psychology section biannual competency review process (OPPE and FPPE), and periodically serves on the Psychology clinical pertinence review committee.

Maintains current knowledge of and practices in accordance with The Joint Commission(TJC), Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), or other accrediting or governing body requirements.

Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with provisions of Federal privacy acts and confidentiality statutes.

When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
