Janitorial/Cleaning Positions (Full and Part Time)

CustodianUnder the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor and immediate work direction of a Lead Custodian, perform a variety of custodial duties related to maintaining assigned rooms, buildings, facilities and related areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Incumbents assigned to the Custodian classification perform varied custodial duties related to maintaining District facilities in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Incumbents assigned to the Lead Custodian classification oversee and provide work direction and guidance to assigned custodians and participate in a variety of custodial duties to ensure that District facilities are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition.Monday-Friday 20 hours per week Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Working from a prepared work schedule, perform a variety of custodial duties related to maintaining assigned rooms, buildings, facilities and related areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition.Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, oil, buff and seal floors; Dust, wash and polish furniture, woodwork and metal work; wash windows, walls and mirrors; clean shower facilities and locker rooms as assigned; Perform minor non-technical repairs such as replacing light bulbs and tubes, adjusting desks and other furniture and adjusting shades and blinds.Assist in preparing and setting up facilities for meetings and special events; move, arrange and remove furniture, staging, bleachers and equipment; set-up sound equipment for classrooms or special usage; clean facilities after events.operate a utility cart and/or pick-up truck to deliver or pick up supplies or equipment and to collect trash; may assist in receiving, storing and inventorying supplies.Report safety or security issues to Lead Custodian or supervisor.Knowledge in the use of cleaning agents including solvents, disinfectants, detergents and polishing agents is required. Past experience in standard custodial practices, procedures and techniques in an organization with extended hours of operation and multiple high-traffic areas is required. Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed below and one year of continuous custodial or janitorial experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to perform these operations using units of weight and volume measurement to mix cleaning agents.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION: This position may require operating a District or personal vehicle in order to complete assigned work within the scope of the position duties.Demonstrate knowledge of:Modern cleaning methods, materials and equipment used in custodial workOperation and care of vacuums, buffers and other electrical cleaning equipment.Clean assigned rooms, buildings, facilities and related areas.Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, oil, buff and seal floors.Dust, wash and polish furniture, woodwork and metal work.Wash windows, walls and mirrors.Clean restroom sinks, toilets, shower facilities and locker rooms.Quickly learn the schedules, procedures and cleaning supplies for custodial work.Operate hand and power cleaning equipment.Maintain a pattern of reliable attendance and work performance.Work with minimum supervision.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. speak clearly enough to provide information to Lead Custodian or supervisor; maneuver around in narrow or crowded places when cleaning classrooms. The work assigned to this classification is typically performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes from cleaning supplies and dust or other airborne particles.
