Job Summary
The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines using a patient/customer driven approach.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and reassessments; document findings accurately and completely.
Establish, coordinate, and evaluate a plan of care based on assessment data, diagnoses, lab results, orders, protocols, and standards of care.
Provide patient, family, and caregiver education and discharge planning throughout hospitalization.
Collaborate with the health team for daily care coordination; communicate patient care plans and hand‑off reports.
Administer medications and monitor IV fluids and parenteral nutrition according to policy and procedure.
Document ongoing evaluations of care effectiveness, patient response, and adjust the plan of care as needed.
Follow infection control practices, apply safe patient‑handling techniques, and maintain a safe, clean environment.
Adhere to safety, risk‑management, and reporting policies; use eSRM for risk notifications.
Serve as a resource for colleagues and patients, providing support, supervision, and teaching as required.
Specialized Care
Restraint care: initiate alternatives, monitor response, provide required care, and document use.
Pain management: assess pain, incorporate cultural and spiritual beliefs, implement prevention‑focused techniques and involve the patient/family.
Abuse assessment and reporting when signs are identified, ensuring patient safety and compliance with local policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Education: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Missouri.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and up‑to‑date clinical certifications per hospital policy.
Proficiency in documentation, assessment, patient education, medication administration, infection control, and teamwork.
Ability to adapt to changing workloads, contribute to continuous quality improvement, and uphold professional competence.
