Mental Health Clinician

Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

We are seeking a master's level clinician to perform a combination of behavioral health clinical tasks including and not limited to intake assessment on referrals for mental health services and/or provide counsel with emphasis on prevention and recovery as assigned on weekly rotation schedule by Program Manager. Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. This position will help individuals deal with complex and comorbid diagnosis which may include: serious persistent mental health illness, addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, marital problems and challenges with social determinants of health; and issues associated with aging, physical, mental and emotional health.

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (37.5 hours/ week)

Perform face-to-face intake for consumers who have been referred to MHC and assess for care management, medication management or therapy eligibility.

Determine an individual's appropriateness for care management, medication management or therapy and assign to all that are appropriate.

Disposition consumer to appropriate Agency for other mental health services when ineligible for care management.

Encourage consumers to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.

Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.

Refer patients, consumers or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.

Meet with families, clinic providers, care managers and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.

Collaborate with other staff members, primary care practice partners including pediatricians, doctors, nurse practitioners, office staff, and referral sources as assigned to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
