Cusdial Worker IThe City of Salem is seeking a full-time Custodial Worker I. The facilities organization is a part of the Enterprise Services Department. The successful candidate will have knowledge of cleaning practices and light building maintenance. Work is conducted during the evening, early morning, and/or weekends. Work is performed during evening, early morning, and/or weekends. A typical shift is from 5pm – 1:30am. Overtime may be required at times. Exposure with safety precautions to moisture, dust, fumes, chemicals, and refuse. This position is eligible for a night shift pay differential.The best qualified applicants will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: knowledge of cleaning practices and light building maintenance, custodial related equipment and supplies; safety hazards, precautions and hazardous materials; ability to perform interior custodial and minor maintenance tasks without immediate supervision; ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces and in the operation of a variety of janitorial equipment; and dexterity to perform a variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks as listed above.The community has well-established neighborhoods and carefully preserved historic buildings with wide diversity and a family-friendly ambiance.
