Unit Information
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Unit Description: The unit provides comprehensive labor and delivery services including recovery and triage capabilities.
Unit Capacity and Staffing
~ Number of Beds:

• 16 Labor, Delivery, Recovery (LDR)
• 3 Operating Rooms (OR)
• 3 Triage Rooms
• 3 Recovery Rooms (RR)

Number of Staff: 70
Day Shift Staffing: 1 charge nurse, 12 Registered Nurses (RN), 2-3 Surgical Technicians
Night Shift Staffing: 1 charge nurse, 6-7 Registered Nurses (RN), 1 Surgical Technician
Patient Ratios
The unit aims for AWHONN patient ratios. Ratios can vary from 1:1 to as high as 3:1 for low-acuity patients.

Qualifications
Must Have:
Current Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring experience (within the last 2 years)
Labor and Delivery experience
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
~ Experience in facilities with 3,000 births annually

Surgical circulation for C-sections
Initial baby care (excluding admission assessments)
Assistance with breastfeeding

Dress Code
Scrub Color: Navy Blue, with any closed-toe shoes. All tattoos and piercings should be covered during shifts.
Unit Guidelines
This unit operates with 24/7 coverage from Hospitalists, Midwives, Anesthesia providers, and Neonatologists.
