If youre looking for a role that values your skills and dedication, IPS is where youll thrive./ppResponsibilities Expectations:/ppThe Machinist is responsible for performing a wide range of machining operations to repair, modify, and manufacture mechanical components used in electrical and rotating equipment such as motors, generators, turbines, pumps, gearboxes, switchgear, and transformers. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong mechanical aptitude to ensure all parts and assemblies meet exacting quality standards and customer specifications./pulliSet up and operate various machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and shapers, to perform precision machining operations./liliPerform complex machining work requiring close tolerances, intricate setups, and development of unique or one-of-a-kind parts./liliDismantle, inspect, diagnose, and repair or reassemble mechanical components of rotating electrical and mechanical equipment./liliManufacture or modify parts based on engineering drawings, samples, or measurements./liliPerform machining and assembly operations for a variety of electrical equipment./liliConduct basic mechanical inspections and ensure all work meets required specifications, tolerances, and safety standards./liliSupport plating, boring, sleeving, and turning operations as required./liliAssist with troubleshooting and correcting mechanical or dimensional issues encountered during machining or assembly./liliMaintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition./liliTrain and/or direct less experienced machinists or helpers as assigned./liliPerform related duties and special assignments as directed by supervision./liliAssembly/disassembly of transformer components./liliMachining on a variety of base materials ranging from steel, stainless, and aluminum to wood, composites, and phenolics./li/ulpQualifications and Competencies:/pulliHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred./lili210 years of machining experience depending on skill level./liliStrong knowledge of machining practices, measuring tools, and mechanical assembly./liliAbility to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications./liliAbility to produce basic mechanical drawings./liliAbility to operate both CNC and manual lathes and mills./liliDemonstrated proficiency in setup, operation, and maintenance of manual machine tools./liliUnderstanding of safe work practices and proper use of PPE in a shop environment./liliStrong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude./liliAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team./liliAbility to work overtime, weekends, and nights as required./li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/pulliFrequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and use of hand tools./liliAbility to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time./liliAbility to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 40 lbs./li/ulpYoull thrive at IPS if you/pp Lead with integrity and prioritize safety.
