Registered Nurse

A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective, patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Using the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.

Job Responsibilities:

Assessment: Perform assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrate ability to make sound independent decisions.

Development & Implementation: Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care. Review and revise the plan as needed. Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilize resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization and patient/family.

Evaluation: Monitor and document response to clinical interventions.

Education: Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education specific to patient and family needs. Address care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge.

Leadership: Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Function as a mentor/preceptor. Demonstrate, encourage, and facilitate teamwork. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement. Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implement practice changes and comply with regulatory standards. Participate in the governance model.
