CustodianWork involves performing manual tasks in the cleaning and care of buildings and grounds. Work assignments are routine and must ensure health department guidelines are maintained. Teamwork and cooperation are necessary for success. Work is reviewed through observation and results obtained.Reports to: Principal/Head CustodianPerformance responsibilities include:Sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets; dusting and cleaning windows, walls, hallways, elevators, stairs, closets, shelves, storage or other designated areas including building entrances and exits.Cleaning classrooms which include, but is not limited to furniture, whiteboards, and floors.Using equipment/supplies in a safe and efficient manner. This includes proper handling of cleaning solutions, chemicals and disinfectants.Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms; replenishing soap, tissues, and towels.Emptying waste containers, replacing liners, and removing trash and debris from grounds.Recognizing potential problems and reporting immediately to head custodian or other designated personnel.Exhibiting an understanding of being a public employee and serving the public.Being prompt, punctual, dependable, and displaying appropriate workplace appearance.Maintaining positive interaction with others.Knowing and following board policy for Homewood City Schools.Being subject to call out in emergency situations.Performing any duties or tasks as assigned by the principal. Specific directions and duties will be outlined by the principal.Physical demands include frequent physical effort such as bending, standing, walking and/or light lifting and carrying objects of moderate weight of 15 to 49 pounds for a short duration; occasionally lifts and carries heavy objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
