Registered Nurse Weekend Emergency Department Night Shift

Emergency Department Nurse
This is a 17-week contract position for holiday coverage in a high-acuity emergency department (ED) setting. The ED typically sees a volume of 200 to 250 patients daily and caters to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics.
Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume, high-acuity emergency department.
Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC.
Preferred: Pediatric emergency medicine experience.
Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus.
Skills Required

Barcode scanning for medication administration.
Managing medication drips and blood product administration.
Triage experience required (must pass the hospital's Triage Test).
Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines.
Assisting with trauma and code cases.
Performing splinting and using BiPAP/ventilators.
Good understanding of ESI (Emergency Severity Index).
Patient Types
The emergency department serves a diverse patient population, including:

Neonates to geriatrics.
Level III trauma cases.
Pediatric medical and trauma cases.
Stroke cases (administer TNK).
Cardiac cases (involvement with the cath lab).
Behavioral health and substance use disorder cases.
Patient Ratios
Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:3 to 1:5, based on patient acuity. The emergency department is organized into different zones, including a fast track area.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
The EMR system utilized is Epic, and experience with this system is required.
Shift Details
Shifts vary and may include:

Days: 7 AM to 7 PM, 9 AM to 9 PM.
Mids: 10 AM to 10 PM, 11 AM to 11 PM, 12 PM to 12 AM, 1 PM to 1 AM, 2 PM to 2 AM.
Eves: 3 PM to 3 AM, Nights: 7 PM to 7 AM.
Work Schedule
Weekend rotation is required every other weekend, with the possibility of back-to-back weekends. Flexibility in scheduling is needed.
