With over 30 skilled attorneys and multiple offices on the West Coast, this boutique firm has been delivering high-quality legal services for over 30 years. Known for its team of Super Lawyers, the firm provides trusted advice and representation across various legal sectors, offering transactional and litigation support.
The Role
Oversees the human resources department, handling tasks such as non-exempt staff recruitment, employee relations, payroll management, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Develop HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and foster a positive workplace culture.
Position Summary
Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Work Arrangement: In-office, 4 days per week
Compensation: $110,000-$160,000
Education and Qualifications
Minimum Education: BA/BS in Human Resources or related field.
Authorized to work in the USA.
Core Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing: Oversee hiring for all non-exempt staff, manage job postings (Indeed, LinkedIn), and coordinate temporary staffing needs.
Onboarding & Orientation: Conduct new hire orientations and manage employee onboarding.
Employee Relations: Provide coaching/counseling to employees and management, ensuring compliance with HR policies.
Benefits & Compliance: Coordinate annual Open Enrollment and manage leave of absence programs (FMLA, PFL, CFRA, ADA accommodations).
HR Policies & Performance Management: Develop and implement HR policies, oversee performance evaluations, and conduct exit interviews to drive continuous improvement.
Legal Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal and state labor laws, including equal opportunity policies.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
Experience with law firm operations is a plus.
SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong hands-on approach with broad HR expertise (recruitment, employee relations, benefits).
Ability to objectively coach employees and management.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Able to sit at a desk and use computers for prolonged periods.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 10 lbs.
