RN-NICU/Pediatrics-Fulltime Nights

Our 162‑bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a county‑designated trauma center. Provides for the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on specified shifts. This position is responsible for care planning, medication administration, noting of physiological changes, and psychosocial needs of neonates, as well as the education and training of the patient and their family. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel commensurate with their scope of practice and will be cross‑trained and float to pediatrics. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Two years NICU experience: Current RN license in state of practice: Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Provides appropriate nursing interventions for both stable and critically ill newborns, including medication administration, intravenous therapy (including blood products), care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, and safe use of all medical equipment in the neonatal intensive care environment.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills in caring for neonates requiring mechanical ventilation and other ventilatory support devices such as nasal CPAP, O2 cannula, high/low flow suctioning, and nebulized medication delivery.

Accurately interprets hemodynamic monitoring and effectively manages the neonate's hemodynamic status, identifies abnormal lab values, and notifies physicians appropriately. Demonstrates clinical judgment in managing life‑threatening emergencies and interpreting ECG rhythms, following chain of command per policy.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills related to fluid and electrolyte management, infant nutrition and feeding, and provides psychosocial support to families and caregivers throughout hospitalization, including grief support and end‑of‑life care.

Initiates a multidisciplinary, family‑centered, goal‑oriented care plan for each neonate in collaboration with health‑care team members, and educates families on newborn care both in‑hospital and after discharge using appropriate teaching methods.

Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care, and consistently performs unit‑specific safety and quality control checks (shift and 24‑hour MD order checks, void torque/oxygen readbacks, crash‑cart checks, urine logs, and refrigeration log updates).
