Senior Underwriter - Commercial Casualty - Global P&C Insurance Carrier (Chicago, IL)
James Search Group is partnering with a leading global property & casualty (P&C) insurance carrier known for its underwriting excellence, financial strength, and commitment to client-focused solutions. With a robust platform across commercial and specialty lines, the company offers a dynamic and collaborative environment for underwriters to advance their careers and contribute to profitable portfolio growth.
Our client is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join its growing Commercial Casualty team, with a focus on large and complex casualty risks. This is a high-impact, hybrid role based in Chicago, offering exposure to national accounts and an opportunity to contribute to the expansion of a high-performing portfolio. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of commercial casualty underwriting experience and a proven ability to assess risk, build broker relationships, and drive underwriting profitability.
Underwrite new and renewal business for large casualty accounts with a focus on general liability, umbrella, and excess coverages
Perform in-depth risk analysis and pricing assessments aligned with underwriting guidelines and company appetite
Partner cross-functionally with claims, actuarial, and risk control teams to deliver tailored solutions to complex risks
Represent the company at client meetings, broker events, and industry conferences to strengthen brand visibility and broker engagement
Stay current on market trends, competitive positioning, and regulatory developments impacting casualty underwriting
5+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience, ideally with a focus on large, complex risks
Deep technical knowledge of casualty coverages, policy structures, and pricing methodologies
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field preferred
