Oncology - Advance Practice Nurse

The RN Oncology Infusion Therapy Clinician functions under the direction of the Manager Infusion Therapy or other designated leader, demonstrating knowledge, competency, and clinical expertise in oncology infusion therapy. The RN regularly administers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies in an outpatient infusion center, with potential alternate settings. Responsibilities include providing safe patient care with awareness of age‑appropriate and culturally sensitive needs, addressing patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and education needs, serving as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff, upholding nursing practice standards and participating in staff meetings, in‑services, special projects, and continued education. The RN may also serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues and will be required to float between Cobb Hospital HODs based on need. All sites are within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital.

Oncology Experience Required

Oncology experience required.

Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care. Provides relationship‑based patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics, adapting service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.

Practices current clinical practice standards, including chemotherapy and targeted therapies.

Coordinates safe, quality patient care delivery and documentation, promoting an inclusive environment.

Participates and supports performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance. Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor to other nurses, staff, or students.

Cultivates oncology nursing knowledge through continuing education and specialty certification. Promotes evidence‑based nursing practice, research, and performance improvement.

Upholds system policies, professional associations, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Participates in data collection, poses clinical questions, and consults experts. Plans for patient care across the continuum.
