Animal Care Specialist
Compensation: $16 per hour
Reports To: Animal Care Supervisors
A mission-driven animal welfare organization dedicated to the care, rehabilitation, and placement of animals in need. The team is committed to providing compassionate care while promoting responsible pet ownership and creating positive outcomes for animals and the community.
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to support the daily care and wellbeing of animals in a shelter environment. This hands-on role ensures animals are safe, healthy, clean, and enriched while maintaining a positive and welcoming experience for adopters, volunteers, and staff. You will work directly with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments, making a meaningful impact each day.
Provide daily care including feeding, watering, cleaning kennels/cages, and general animal husbandry.
Observe animal behavior and health; report concerns to the medical or leadership team.
Safely handle and restrain animals as needed.
Assist with basic grooming and administer medications under supervision.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience working with animals (shelter, rescue, veterinary, or similar environment) preferred.
Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments.
Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Compassion, patience, and a strong commitment to animal welfare.
$15 per hour
