Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical Unit travel assignment in Urbana, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have strong post-operative nursing experience and be comfortable caring for patients with complex surgical needs in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative surgical patients.
Perform patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
Monitor and manage patients with tracheostomies, wound vacs, drains, and ostomies.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
Assess patient responses to treatment and communicate changes in condition promptly.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and post-operative care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation utilizing Epic EMR.
Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.
Requirements
Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License at time of submission.
Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Minimum one (1) year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience.
Previous Trauma Level I facility experience required.
Epic EMR experience required.
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
