Childcare Caregiver

Caregiver Job DescriptionLoving Care caregivers are responsible for operations and functions of the Loving Care program.Caregivers provide supervision for all children and activities in the Loving Care program, and carry out policies, rules and regulations, functions and activities prescribed and approved by the Director, Assistant Director and building principal.Caregivers report directly to the building Site Leader, and indirectly to the Director, Assistant Director, and building principal.Responsibilities include:Providing appropriate environment and supervision for homework, rest, socialization, recreation, craft, games, and other daily activities.Working with and supervising children in a warm, positive, and caring manner.Complimenting and reinforcing positive student behavior. Correcting misbehavior in a manner consistent with positive child development techniques and Loving Care policy.Actively engaging in a variety of learning and recreational activities with children.Greeting children, parents, and visitors in a warm and caring manner each day.Taking accurate daily attendance, cross-referencing absences with the school office or the child's parent.Assessing daily each child's state of health to determine the type and level of activity that is appropriate for the day.Supervising children on the playground, strictly enforcing all equipment rules and safety regulations.Assisting the Site Leader and building custodian in maintaining cleanliness of building areas used by Loving Care students.Escorting children throughout the building and supervising meal periods.Providing first aid for minor injuries, and reporting such injuries appropriately to the Site Leader, parent, and Director.Documenting and reporting to the Site Leader any extraordinary or unusual behavior, physical or emotional stress, signs and symptoms of physical or emotional abuse, or any other behaviors not generally encountered on a daily basis.Cooperating with Site Leader, Assistant Director, Director, and building principal to maintain good staff relations and child care practices.Keeping accurate time records and submitting bi-weekly to Site Leader.Attending periodic workshops and staff trainings as scheduled by the Loving Care Director.Attending periodic staff meetings to plan activities and discuss current issues.Performing other duties consistent with good childcare practices, as assigned by the Site Leader, Assistant Director, Director, or building principal.
