What You Will Do Act as the on‑site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers.
Perform or delegate tasks required to execute and fully complete assigned projects, including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout.
Provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration.
Manage overall financial results of assigned projects—including costs, project billings, and collections—and maintain a balance between customer satisfaction and financial results.
Coordinate communication with the customer during all project phases and actively pursue selling change orders.
Ensure work complies with state, local, and federal legal requirements and operates with the highest of ethics.
Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards as needed.
Validate system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors to ensure proper operation.
Provide accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation.
Evaluate contractual scope of work and the impact of client‑issued bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes.
Actively pursue additional work through change orders.
Lead and complete loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as needed.
Coordinate panel and field device physical locations on the job site.
Ensure installation follows Johnson Controls literature and project requirements.
Communicate project status to management and provide monthly revenue, cost, and margin forecasts.
Develop project plans and coordinate required resources for accurate and cost‑effective installation and completion.
Perform site‑specific training for owners/operators on the system, fully or with assistance.
Provide documentation and manuals for system operation.
Send warranty letter to customer upon meaningful project completion and ensure warranty execution.
Provide detailed documentation to customers, Johnson Controls staff, and subcontractors.
Coach, mentor, and provide technical assistance to technicians, installers, designers, and subcontractors.
Ensure that delegated tasks are completed accurately, on‑time, billed, within budget, and within contract scope.
Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Adhere to and enforce safety standards for all staff and subcontractors.
Handle selection, ordering, budgeting, and delivery scheduling of materials for assigned projects.
Secure pricing and availability from vendors and subcontractors, including scope, terms, and conditions.
Handle costs, billings, and collections and complete project billings accurately and timely for the client.
Maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow.
Be responsible for subcontractor payment and billing processes.
Required Qualifications At least a technical associate’s degree with four years of field experience or six years of equivalent experience in the HVAC/Building Automation industry.
Relevant hands‑on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC/Building Automation controls systems.
HVAC controls knowledge, customer communication skills, strong organizational ability, and proven project leadership.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical material to non‑technical audiences.
Computer proficiency in Windows, Excel, and related applications.
Knowledge of control theory and HVAC/Building Automation systems.
Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent, with six years of HVAC industry experience.
Experience preparing reports for upper management on project status.
