The Psychiatrist role will direct, coordinate, and provide medical/clinical services to assigned individuals within the facility including but not limited to: Psychiatric evaluations and assessments, differential diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, ordering testing, engagement, family meetings, supportive psychotherapy, individual education, risk assessment, and discharge planning. This role will also be able to provide support and direct clinical supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants while on duty. They will have an interest in supporting the quality of services provided throughout the organization by participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Complete initial full psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, family interventions, focused crisis diagnostic assessments, assessments of capacity for consent to treatment, risk assessments, individual education, progress toward treatment goals, and discharge planning including medical, psychological, social, behavioral and developmental aspects of the consumer's care, treatment, and services.
Document individual's progress in the clinical record in progress notes.
Oversee delivery of medication education and consent, according to established policy.
Review the health assessments completed by nursing staff.
Obtain a past and current medical history, and conduct a focused physical examination as indicated, according to established guidelines.
Initiate contact with Primary Care Physicians and Emergency Room clinicians according to professional standards and established guidelines.
Assess individuals' needs and guide the clinical team while managing treatment plan updates, in addition to initiating contact with Outpatient Behavioral Health Provider according to established guidelines.
Review and utilize all available documents from the crisis clinical team.
Actively participates in activities intended to improve the quality of services within the organization in the form of providing or attending clinical didactics and providing direct supervision to advanced practitioners, students, residents, and other members of the clinical staff.
Actively participates in medical governance through membership in leadership and quality committees and/or subcommittees as needed.
Participates in medical staff meetings including regional and quarterly meetings; and participates in any meeting as requested by Medical Leadership.
When applicable, supervises MD/DO students and psychiatry residents regarding diagnosis, treatment and disposition. Authenticates student's/residents' documentation in the system.
Supervises NP/PA on unit during shift regarding diagnosis, treatment and disposition.
Doctorate of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.

• 4 years of post-doctoral experience, to include approved psychiatric residency training programs, in the delivery of mental health treatment to children, adolescents, and/or adults
• The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. Complete all credentialing requirements within the required time period, including but not limited to obtaining a National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials as required for the role.
• State of Virginia Fingerprint Clearance
• Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (VA DBHDS) background check
• Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Social Services (VA DSS) Office of Background Investigations - Central Registry Search

Board certified in Psychiatry
Addiction-credentialed physician or physician with experience in addiction medicine
Experience working with children, youth, and their families

Actual compensation is based on relevant experience, education, internal equity, and budget.
