As a Special Education Teacher, you'll play an active, hands-on role in supporting students throughout their school day. You'll provide specialized instruction and educational support aligned with students' IEPs and other individualized support plans, while working closely with teachers, administrators, families, and fellow service providers to support student learning, participation, independence, and overall success within the educational environment.
This role is embedded within the rhythm of a school-balancing direct student interaction, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and consistent documentation to support student progress and compliance. You'll participate in team meetings, contribute to planning and progress discussions, and adapt your approach based on individual student needs and the evolving priorities of the school environment. The goal is to support students' academic, behavioral, functional, and social-emotional growth so they can meaningfully access and participate in their educational environment.

Support students' academic, behavioral, functional, and social-emotional development
Work with general education teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers
Support behavior intervention strategies, crisis response, and student support planning
Communicate effectively with school staff and, when appropriate, families
Adapt to changes in student needs, schedules, and school priorities throughout the year
Bachelor's degree in Special Education
Current Wisconsin DPI Special Education teaching license in one of the following areas:
Cross-Categorical Special Education (1801 or 2801)
Early Childhood Special Education (1809)
Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD) (1830)
Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) (1811)
Cognitive Disabilities / Intellectual Disabilities (ID)
Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and class accommodations preferred
Experience supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, and functional needs

Ability to manage a caseload and adapt to changing priorities in a school environment
Ability to comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including FERPA and HIPAA
Reliable transportation, if travel between school sites is required
