Cashier Job Description – Joe Patti’s Seafood
Position Summary
A cashier at Joe Patti’s Seafood Company is responsible for providing fast, accurate, and friendly customer service in a high-volume seafood market environment . The role combines payment processing, customer interaction, and maintaining an organized front-of-store area.
Key Responsibilities

Process transactions
Operate cash register, handle cash/credit/debit payments
Accurately total purchases and give correct change

Customer service
Greet customers and answer basic questions about products
Provide a friendly, efficient checkout experience
Direct customers to departments (fish line, deli, etc.)

Maintain front-end area
Keep checkout stations clean, stocked, and organized
Restock bags, receipt paper, and small items

Assist with store operations
Help manage lines during busy periods
Coordinate with seafood counter staff for order pickup

Follow policies
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
Adhere to company procedures and cash-handling rules

Work Environment

Fast-paced, especially during weekends and holidays
Standing for long periods (often full shifts), able to lift ~50 LBs
High customer traffic (tourist-heavy location)
Skills & Qualifications

Basic math and cash-handling skills
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask under pressure
Dependable and able to work flexible hours

Steam Window / Food Service Duties

Take customer orders for steamed seafood (shrimp, crab legs, etc.)
Communicate orders clearly to kitchen/steam staff

Ensure orders are accurate before handing to customers
Maintain cleanliness of the service window and prep area
