Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.

May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.

May administer grants and grant-related communications, scholarships and other operations.

Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.

May serve as property custodian for the department.

The Program Manager at the UH STEM Center plays a key role in designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative K-20 STEM education programs. This position supports a broad portfolio of initiatives that engage students, educators, and community partners, with the goal of strengthening STEM pathways from kindergarten through postsecondary education. The Program Manager collaborates closely with internal teams, school districts, higher education partners, and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality program delivery and measurable impact.

Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of K-20 STEM education programs and initiatives.

Develop and maintain partnerships with K-12 schools, community colleges, universities, and community organizations.

Manage program timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements across multiple projects.

Oversee program evaluation efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on outcomes and impact.

Support grant proposal development and assist in grant management and compliance.

Represent the STEM Center at meetings, conferences, and outreach events.

Supervise and manage the STEM Center’s social media presence, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement.

Coordinate and oversee the UH STEM Center Student Outreach Squad, including outreach activities, training, social engagement, mentorship, and academic support.

Facilitate both formal and informal outreach activities that promote STEM engagement across K-20 audiences.

Provide support for evening and/or weekend programming as needed.

Establish and maintain relationships with faculty and staff across all colleges, serving as a programmatic liaison to develop and sustain collaborative initiatives.

Work closely with academic departments, student organizations, and community partners to enhance college engagement and provide comprehensive support services.

Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
