Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure

Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Five years of acute care nursing experience with varied experience Two hours of verifiable trauma-related education annually Six hours of stroke training annually, with NIHSS counting for three hours

Description: The House Supervisor provides leadership and coordination of healthcare services. The supervisor ensures safety and quality of care. In the absence of regular leadership, the supervisor has hospital administrative responsibility. This includes serving as incident commander during disasters and mass casualty incidents. Additional responsibilities include managing patient flow throughout the hospital. This encompasses assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care delivery. The House Supervisor coordinates patient care throughout the hospital and outpatient areas. They serve as a liaison for staff, patients, families, and providers. The supervisor expedites admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients. They appropriately guide physician understanding of admission Utilization Review InterQual criteria. They facilitate the communication of the need for emergency surgery with procedural areas. The supervisor rounds on all nursing units to monitor activities. They assure adequate staffing with knowledge of patient needs and unit standards. The supervisor assists in aligning unit staffing with productivity goals and objectives. The supervisor acts as a liaison between physicians and patient care teams. They activate the medical staff chain of command when necessary. The supervisor upholds established policies and procedures. They refer others to appropriate policy language for specific instructions and guidelines. The supervisor demonstrates responsible management of all organizational resources. The supervisor leads, teaches, inspires, and supports staff. The supervisor acts as a role model, mentor, and innovator. They promote intra-departmental cooperation and team building. The supervisor assists in the development and adherence to hospital policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The supervisor demonstrates sound judgment and patience. They learn current and new computer applications and office equipment. The supervisor analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines.

The position may necessitate working beyond a standard workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. Close visual acuity is necessary for preparing and analyzing data. Exposures to bloodborne pathogens and various chemicals in healthcare settings exist. Medical, dental & vision insurance
