Unit Details
Unit Name: Progressive Care Unit
Number of Beds: 18
Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
Unit Staffing: 2 Patient Care Technicians and 1 Unit Secretary
Equipment Used: Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pump, Pyxis, computers available in every room
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling and On-Call Requirements
Self-scheduling is required, including 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
No on-call requirements.
Floating policy: Travelers, PRN staff, and last floated date.
Patient Experience Expectations
We prioritize nurse courtesy, respect, and teamwork in patient care.

Advanced Skills and Patient Care
The Telemetry & Pulmonary Step Down Unit provides care for patients with moderate physiologic instability who require support, including conditions such as:
COPD exacerbation
Pneumonia
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
Tracheostomy patients
This unit specializes in the management of cardiac and pulmonary patients who are hemodynamically stable but require cardiac and respiratory monitoring every 2-4 hours. The level of care is more intensive than Medical/Surgical Units but less than that provided in ICU settings.
Nursing Interventions
Vital Signs: Every 4 hours
Continuous Cardiac Monitoring
Blood Glucose Monitoring: Every 4 hours
Neurological Monitoring: As needed
