Early Childhood Teacher - Elementary School

About the Role The Teacher is the instructional leader of their classroom and is directly responsible for driving student outcomes and creating an exceptional student experience. Teachers develop rigorous, engaging, affirming, grade-level and culturally-sustaining instruction aligned with the academic program; The Teacher maintains a culturally responsive classroom community, upholds school-wide expectations, manages tier 1 behaviors, and communicates with families proactively. The position is a 10-month academic role and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position reports to a member of the school leadership team.

Assume personal responsibility for student achievement

Read, internalize, and adhere to KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures

Provide active presence, strategic supervision, and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning

Take ownership for professional growth and engage in coaching sessions; Be prepared for lessons, coaching, meetings, PD, and communications

Leverage professional tools (Google Suite, Microsoft Suite) effectively

Participate in grade level and department meetings and school-wide PD

Engage in school-wide initiatives and serve on teams to implement and improve practices

Travel to KIPP campuses, Home Office, or PD events as required

Instructional Planning and Delivery

Develop standards-based instructional plans (unit plans, scope and sequences, weekly plans, daily lesson plans)

Plan rigorous lessons aligned with deadlines and internalize for high-quality instruction

Use high-quality instructional materials with fidelity; use data to inform reteach and reassessment

Use data to drive instruction and set/monitor progress toward goals

Implement IEPs, 504 Plans, ALPs, BIPs, and MTSS interventions with fidelity, including accommodations and progress monitoring

School Culture Alignment

Maintain high expectations for academics and behavior

Maintain student safety and engagement through supervision

MLE, literacy modules, ECE licensure, ESSA status)

Collaborate with Special Services for 504s, BIPs, IEPs, safety plans, accommodations, and language support

Enforce positive behavior systems and monitor behavior data

Attend school functions outside of hours as required

Develop relationships with families through home visits and school events; Participate in daily duties to support school operations

Maintain accurate records, grade books, and data tracking systems

Bachelor’s degree (required)

Spanish bilingual (preferred)

At least 2 years of teaching experience (highly preferred but not required)

Commitment to events and activities outside standard hours as directed by the school

Commitment to youth from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds

Multifaceted, resourceful, and willing to do whatever it takes to help the school reach academic excellence

Summer break as applicable by location

Parental and medical leave: up to 12 weeks (6 weeks paid, 6 weeks unpaid) after first year
