Job Description Join Mainframe Solutions as a Civil Estimator supporting one of Houston's established heavy civil contractors. This opportunity is focused on estimating roadway, utilities, commercial site development, and municipal infrastructure projects throughout the Greater Houston area.You will work closely with operations and preconstruction teams to develop accurate, competitive estimates that support continued growth across both public and private sector projects.Competitive compensation is offered based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Civil Estimator with experience preparing estimates for heavy civil construction projects. This position is responsible for developing complete project estimates from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission, while identifying project risks and supporting successful project execution.The ideal candidate has experience estimating roadway, underground utilities, commercial site development, and TxDOT projects and is proficient with modern estimating and takeoff software.Project Scope• Heavy civil construction• Roadway construction and paving• Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage)• Commercial site development• Municipal infrastructure projects• TxDOT projectsKey Responsibilities• Prepare complete cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects• Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam, AGTEK, and HCSS• Review plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports• Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals• Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities• Prepare bid summaries and support final bid reviews• Coordinate with project managers and operations during project handoff• Maintain organized estimating documentation and historical cost dataQualifications• 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience• Experience estimating roadway, utilities, and commercial site development projects• Strong understanding of construction means and methods• Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsPreferred Experience• TxDOT estimating experience• Municipal infrastructure estimating experience• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu• Experience using AGTEK Earthwork software• Experience estimating concrete paving and roadway projectsCompensation & Benefits• Competitive salary based on experience• Performance-based incentives• Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage• 401(k)• Paid Time OffWhy This RoleThis opportunity offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of heavy civil infrastructure projects with a well-established contractor serving both public and private clients.
