Phlebotomist II - 1st ShiftLocation: Bridgeport, CT Shift: Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Duration: 2+ Months (Possibility of Extension) Pay Rate: $17.50 - $23.00 per hour on W2Job SummaryThe Phlebotomist II (Patient Services Representative II) serves as the face of the organization by providing exceptional patient care and specimen collection services. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient safety, accuracy, and confidentiality throughout the collection process. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills, strong customer service abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures accurately and efficiently.Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols.Verify patient demographics and obtain patient signatures to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.Maintain required documentation, records, and data entry activities.Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.Provide a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.Explain collection procedures to patients and help create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.Follow all company policies, procedures, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.Demonstrate leadership behaviors and support process excellence initiatives.Promote a positive image of the organization with patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.Complete assigned daily activities accurately and within established timeframes.Required QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED required.Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other medical training preferred.Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in certain states as applicable).ExperienceMinimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience required.Experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collections required.Minimum 2 years of Patient Service Center (PSC) experience preferred.Prior customer service experience in a retail or healthcare setting preferred.Keyboarding and data entry experience required.Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong phlebotomy and specimen collection skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Excellent customer service and patient interaction skills.Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to make sound decisions using established procedures and good judgment.Commitment to confidentiality, safety, and quality standards.Adaptability and willingness to embrace change.Additional RequirementsReliable transportation required.Valid driver's license and clean driving record, if applicable.Ability to travel between multiple locations as needed.Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts when necessary.Willingness to cover Patient Service Centers and In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
