Structural Engineering-Entry Level

Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for an Entry Level Structural Fish Passage Engineer to perform analysis, design and engineering for work related to fisheries, hydroelectric, and water resources projects in our Seattle, WA, Redmond, WA, or Portland, OR offices. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment including working from the office and remotely. This position requires three days per week in-office. Salary: $65,000 – $86,000/year (based on experience)Who You AreA candidate with a BS, BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering (concentration in Structural Engineering) with a strong interest in working on fish passage projects. Relevant coursework in structural design of concrete and steel structures, finite element analysis, hydraulics, and soil mechanics.Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to the structural engineering discipline is required. No two fish passage projects are the same, so the ideal candidate will bring a creative, problem-solving mentality to each job. In addition, Kleinschmidt embraces 2-D and 3-D modeling, so experience or interest in learning Revit, MEP, and AutoCAD is required to support collaboration within the design team.Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying engineering skills from analysis and design throughout the life cycle of the project. The candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's licenseAbout the PositionTypical duties of this position include structural design and evaluation of concrete and steel structures and general civil design on fish passage and hydroelectric projects under the direction of mid-to-senior level staff. The duties of this position will also include travel for site inspections of concrete and earthen structures and construction monitoring on a limited basis.
