Your structured-literacy training — whether Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master\'s in reading — has opened the door to every K-3 reading position you\'ve pursued. Alpha has replaced conventional instruction. Students advance through academic content independently using AI-adaptive applications. No lectures, textbooks, or pacing calendars. Your position is where human expertise cannot be substituted. You create 20-minute targeted workshops using live app data; sessions are deliberately brief because focused instruction outperforms duration. You also facilitate motivation sessions designed to guide 100% of students toward weekly app targets via Alpha\'s motivational framework (campus currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate game mechanics). You catch a miscue during instruction, identify the phonemic deficiency, and redesign the next day\'s workshop before you leave. That is the expectation.

Families at these locations have selected Alpha for measurable results, not simply enrollment. Parents review weekly data tracking their child\'s reading progress and they expect clarity. You will field specific questions about individual student advancement, and vague reassurances will not suffice. You will reference the running record, name the phonemic weakness, and describe your instructional response. That level of accountability should energize you, not exhaust you.

Your initial months focus on establishing credibility. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective; student satisfaction and "love your Guide" survey scores (target: 90%+) provide direct feedback. Once you\'ve proven your model, your influence expands beyond your classroom: what succeeds with your students becomes the template other Alpha campuses follow, and your diagnostic precision informs reading instruction as Alpha scales. What you develop here extends well beyond your own space.

Prior to hiring, you will submit a short video in which you tell a compelling story for young children, and you will spend a full day on campus teaching K-3 students directly. Low energy with children will disqualify you, regardless of credential strength. That is intentional.

What You Will Be Doing

Creating targeted K-3 reading workshops using real-time adaptive-app data, rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent)

Leading daily motivation sessions to ensure 100% of students meet weekly app objectives through Alpha\'s motivational system (campus currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)

Analyzing AI-generated performance metrics (fluency trajectories, decoding precision, comprehension indicators) to modify instruction in real time, not just during planning periods

Conducting running records, fluency assessments, and decoding evaluations that yield measurable progress visible in weekly campus data meetings

Serving as the approachable, enthusiastic adult your K-3 students are excited to see daily

What You Won’t Be Doing

Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district pacing calendar; you build lessons directly from student performance data

Delivering whole-class lectures; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students access academic content through adaptive applications

Functioning as a reading coach, consultant to other educators, or district-level specialist; you teach students in the classroom daily

Managing a conventional classroom schedule with subject-by-subject lectures, homework correction, or test preparation. Your schedule consists of workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small-group instruction

Drafting IEPs, 504 plans, or formal diagnostic documentation; student progress is captured in app analytics and your running records, not in special-education forms

Reading Program Coordinator Key Responsibilities

Deliver quantifiable K-3 reading improvement across phonics, fluency, and comprehension within a campus environment where performance is evaluated weekly.

Basic Requirements

Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master\'s degree in reading instruction

Bachelor\'s degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full-time K-3 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment within the past 5 years, employing systematic phonics or structured literacy

Proven capacity to design independent reading lessons and articulate your instructional methods and content without dependence on a commercial program

Willingness to work on-site full-time at one Alpha campus: Beverly Hills, La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, or Santa Monica, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance available)

Willingness to teach all K-3 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and incorporate AI and adaptive-learning technologies into daily instruction as these tools advance

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

Direct experience with AI-powered or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or analyzing student data

Documented reading outcomes (fluency gains measured in WCPM, accuracy increases, decoding level progression) you can cite with specific figures

Familiarity with diagnostic reading tools (DRA, DIBELS, AIMSweb) for creating differentiated instructional groups

Experience in high-accountability educational settings (independent schools, elite charter networks, premium tutoring services where families monitor results closely)

Background in performance, youth sports coaching, or engaging K-3 audiences outside traditional reading instruction

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
