Graphic Designer

Compensation for this position is expected to range between $30.00 and $31.50 per hour, in alignment with what California Baptist University (CBU) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. The Graphic Designer supports the California Baptist University Marketing and Communications team by providing graphic design services that advance the University’s marketing and branding efforts. This role contributes to various design projects, including but not limited to digital, print, advertising, and social media, while ensuring consistency with established brand standards. Assist team members of the Marketing and Communication division in developing, designing, and producing marketing and promotional materials.

Work on multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of excellence, adherence to university graphic standards, and a positive, collaborative attitude.

Meet project deadlines set by the supervisor. Proactively communicate any risks to timelines and propose solutions when delays are anticipated.

Ensure all working materials, including artwork files, photographs, samples, etc., Stay informed on current design, branding and marketing trends through ongoing research and professional development.

Ability to develop creative concepts and translate strategy into visual solutions.

Strong portfolio demonstrating versatility across digital and print media.

Understanding of branding, marketing, and design principles.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign required).

Basic understanding of motion, video, or social-first design trends is preferred.

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, video, social media, and leadership.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities while maintaining high-quality standards.

Understanding of print production, file preparation, and digital asset optimization.

Knowledge of specifications for web, social media platforms, and large-format outputs such as billboards, signage, and related materials.

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers, and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Light physical activity. Work may involve occasional assistance of others in the manipulation of heavy objects and some standing or walking, usually for not more than 2 hours a day. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Graphic Design or a related field, or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; Successful experience in a related field that requires strong organizational and relational skills.
