The Senior Counsel will serve as a senior member of the litigation practice, handling complex matters while providing management, mentoring, and strategic oversight within the practice area. This role requires significant independent judgment, leadership capability, and a commitment to developing attorneys and staff while delivering high-quality legal services to clients.
Draft original motions, pleadings, and other litigation-related documents in complex matters.
Prepare and respond to written discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses exchanged with multiple parties.
Develop and advance case defenses, litigation strategy, and trial themes with a high degree of autonomy.
Analyze and apply state and federal case law, statutes, and regulatory authority to case facts in support of pre-trial motions and other submissions.
Interview, prepare, and examine fact witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives for testimony in litigation or before regulatory bodies.
Draft pre-trial reports, case evaluations, and perform exposure and risk analysis.
Develop comprehensive strategies for case resolution and approach legal issues with creativity, sound judgment, and efficiency.
Participate in networking and business development activities to support client relationships and firm growth.
Oversee day-to-day workflow for assigned legal teams, ensuring appropriate delegation, timely completion of work, and high-quality work product.
Identify, assign, and supervise work performed by paralegals and litigation support staff.
Serve as a resource and subject-matter mentor to attorneys within the firm's practice areas.
Provide substantive support to Shareholders, Partners, and other Senior Counsel on complex litigation matters.
Meet annual billable hour requirements and comply with firm timekeeping, ethical, and professional responsibility policies.
Demonstrate leadership within the firm and the broader legal community through participation in bar associations, professional organizations, and community involvement.
Commit to ongoing personal and professional development.
Minimum of 7-10 years of litigation experience in a law firm environment.
degree from an accredited law school.
Active admission to practice law and in good standing with at least one U.Substantial litigation experience in one or more of the following areas: environmental law, commercial litigation, product liability, construction litigation, insurance defense, business litigation, or other complex risk management matters.
Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Filevine or other document management systems preferred.
Actual salary will be determined based on education, experience, internal equity and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
