Position Purpose The primary purpose of this job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping function in accordance with ERS’s established policies and procedures and any governmental regulations as applicable.
Essential Functions / Accountabilities Responsible for day-to-day housekeeping function such as cleaning, polishing, sanitizing, sweeping, vacuuming, etc., all environmental surfaces, in both resident rooms and common areas of the facility (floor, ceiling, walls, fixtures, furniture, appliances), ensuring that established Infection Control practices and safety precautions are followed at all times.
Coordinates housekeeping services with nursing services whenever routine assignments occur in resident living areas or common areas and whenever emergency needs arises including routine/terminal isolation procedures.
Performs terminal cleaning procedures, as instructed, when a resident is discharged and/or transferred to another room/area.
Assures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
Reports all accidents, incidents, hazardous conditions or equipment to the Supervisor and keeps work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, etc. Assures that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day.
Reports any maintenance issues, such as burned out light bulbs, exit lights, oversee lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., to the supervisor as soon as possible.
Completes other responsibilities that may become necessary and appropriate to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.
Minimum Qualifications Previous housekeeping experience (in-home, hotel, healthcare) preferred.
Previous experience demonstrating excellent customer service preferred.
Must be a minimum of (18) years of age.
Ability to read and write at an 8th grade reading level required.
Able to understand the English language and speak the language in an understandable manner.
Possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Possess the ability to make independent decisions follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and general public.
Be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel, as well as be willing to handle residents based at whatever behavior or acuity level they are currently functioning.
Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.
Be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc.
Be able to push, pull, lift 50 lbs. regularly and occasionally push up to 150 lbs. and move equipment, supplies, etc., throughout the work day.
Be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Able to maintain regular attendance.
