POLICE OFFICER-CERTIFIED/LATERAL*

Status: Full-time, Classified (Non-Exempt) Salary $32.35 - $45.64 DOQ Earning potential $87,000-$123,000 depending on shift assignment and Step Plan placement. *Trainee Salary $29.90/hr.-$First-year (Step 1) officers have an earning potential of approximately $87,000 with shift differential, built-in overtime, and holiday pay included. Employee is considered a "trainee" when hired as an out-of-state lateral officer until AZPOST Certification is achieved. (Approximately 3-4 weeks, depending on testing availability).

Department patrol vehicles are equipped with Axon Fleet in-car cameras, an in-car mobile computer, and in-car mounted speed radar.

Shift work requires day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
Depending on the assignment, officers may work 10- or 12-hour shifts. Based on shift start time, a pay differential of 3% or 5% is added to the hourly rate.
Officers may work outdoors and may be exposed to extreme temperatures.
Police Officer - AZ State certification as a Police Officer
High school diploma or GED (preferably supplemented by coursework in Criminal Justice, and/or Military Service experience).

In order to apply as an AZPOST certified lateral Police Officer, candidates must have successfully completed an AZPOST approved Police Officer Academy and currently possess an active AZPOST Peace Officer Certification.
Out-of-state lateral Police Officers must have successfully completed a sworn Police Officer Academy and currently possess an active Peace Officer Certification.
