Summary: The primary role of a phlebotomist is to support with executing various assigned tasks, addressing issues, training, and suggesting improvements in operational processes.

Position Responsibilities:

Experience with blood extraction, marking samples, spinning specimens, documenting maintenance details and decontamination, upgrading patient records, etc.

Gathers and secures specimens as per established protocols.

Clearly and politely explains the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g. urine or fecal) as necessary. Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Comprehends all physician’s instructions. Matches lab requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, spins, splits, and freezes specimens as per test orders.

Validates all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Prepares specimens for transportation.

Stores specimen samples at required temperatures, positions samples accordingly.

Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience required
