Licensed Practical Nurse - Medical-Surgery/Oncology

Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will primarily provide nursing care on the Medical Surgical/Observation units and occasionally float to other Med-Surg units including Surgical, Respiratory, Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, and Observation. The role involves managing a patient load of 5 patients under RN oversight, requiring proficiency in telemetry and Epic EMR. The LPN must demonstrate strong clinical skills, including IV certification, and provide care during night shifts with a focus on patient safety and quality care.

Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

Current Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience.

Proficiency with Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

IV certification.

Ability to read and interpret telemetry monitoring; must pass competency testing on day one.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience in Medical Surgical/Observation units and related specialties (e.g., Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac).

Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills.

Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Special Considerations:

Night shift work from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Every third weekend required.

No on-call requirement.

Strict Epic EMR proficiency required; no refresher training or 1:1 supervision available.

Failure to demonstrate telemetry competency or Epic proficiency results in termination.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week on the night shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
• Shift schedule includes every third weekend.
