Monday - Friday

The Histology Technician prepares histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists under the direct supervision of a pathologist or histology technologist. The Histology Technician determines if surgical and cytology specimens are adequate and requests additional specimens if necessary. Performs quality work.

Performs and documents quality control for staining procedures. Performs and documents routine maintenance of instruments. Demonstrates the ability to prepare quality slides from tissue blocks.

Follows all Joint Commission, State of Georgia and other regulatory guidelines and standards.

Submits earned time request according to policy.

Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with lab staff, nursing and medical staff. Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required

Registered Histology Technician ASCP or equivalent, or eligible

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Minimum two year in histopathology (with High School Diploma or Equivalent)

Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms. Associate’s Degree in Biology or related field
