Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit, Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license that is in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily, 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. May involve exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.

Shift: Must work two 12-hour 7AM-7:30PM day shifts every Saturday and Sunday. Part of Weekend Premium Pay (WEPP) plan. Also required for some holidays.

Job Summary

Registered Nurses in Tower 200 Progressive Care of the Trauma Acute Care Surgical Center at UK Chandler Hospital provide care primarily for adult patients with trauma or acute care surgical conditions. The primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient-centered care which includes assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The environment supports collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient-centered care for adult trauma and acute care surgical patients.

Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate nursing plans of care.

Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.

Train and delegate duties to Nursing Care Technicians.

Adhere to University policies, federal, state, and local regulations.

Collaborate with nursing staff and physician team to improve communication and patient outcomes.

Excellent direct patient care and critical thinking skills.

Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.

Excellent technical skills and proven ability to work both independently and in a team.

Preferred Education / Experience

BSN plus at least one year of RN experience preferred.
