Health Care Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members.

Scope

Assess, recognize, and address patients' psychological and physical needs.

Foster quality of care with the best interests of patients and their families in mind.

Communicate compassionately and effectively.

Assist in developing individualized treatment plans.

Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.

Oversee care delivered by LPNs and/or CNAs.

Participate in clinical team conferences.

Follow hospital, regulatory, and professional guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

BLS/ACLS required upon hire for Registered Nurse positions at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital.

Education Required

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.

A Registered Nurse with an ASN/ADN degree must complete a BSN degree within four (4) years from the date of hire unless the RN has a minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven continuous RN experience in an acute care setting. Failure to obtain a BSN within that time frame may result in suspension or termination of employment. (Leave may extend the period.)

RSNs employed by St Vincent, Good Samaritan, St. Joseph, or Lutheran Medical Centers as of September12014 with only an ASN/ADN will be exempt from this requirement.

RSNs employed by Holy Rosary, Platte Valley, St. Mary’s, Home Health, and TSFP as of December312017 with only an ASN/ADN will be exempt from this requirement.

Certification Required

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS‑HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval. ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service.

Physical and Cognitive requirements: ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies; frequent verbal communication with patient care providers; manual dexterity to manipulate equipment; ability to lift, bend, carry supplies; ability to walk/ambulate patients; ability to push/pull gurneys and portable equipment; ability to stand for extended periods.

Location: St. Marys Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Scheduled Weekly Hours:36.

Hourly rate: $36.71–$56.17 (dependent upon experience).
