Quality Engineering- Contractor

At Saab in West Lafayette, IN, you have the opportunity to join a team that manufactures the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. This flagship facility utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques and leverages research and development to support Saab’s broad product portfolio. As Saab continues to expand their team in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support the operation.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams, identifying and mitigating supplier risks, facilitating root cause analysis as applicable to eliminate defects and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and deliver training for suppliers on Saab quality standards, problem solving methodologies, and proactive quality tools (e.g., Develop, implement, and govern key supplier quality performance metrics and associated actions required to achieve agreed performance targets
Implement and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), driving suppliers to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence of quality issues
Perform supplier audits to assess compliance with quality standards, identify areas for improvement, and validate implementation of effective corrective actions
Collaborate with the Purchasing team to evaluate potential new suppliers and assess their capabilities to meet our quality standards
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supplier network to enhance quality, efficiency, and overall performance

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Engineering
Willingness to travel up to 10% in support of supplier visits, audits, and meetings
Strong understanding of quality management systems, AS9100 and quality tools is a plus
Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
