Location: Maryland

Schedule: Float pool assignment rotating between Medical/Surgical Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC) units. Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6. Weekend coverage required (12 weekend shifts per contract). Holiday coverage expected.
Highlights:

Float pool position supporting Med/Surg Telemetry and IMC units across multiple specialties including observation, trauma surgical, joint, stroke, palliative and renal, women's health, and bariatric surgery
Epic electronic medical record system utilized facility-wide
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
Patient populations include adults and geriatrics with diverse diagnoses including post-ICU care, multiple trauma, general medical-surgical admissions, cardiac cases with drips, DKA, NSTEMI, chronic trach/vent management, and post-STEMI patients
Opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills including cardiac and vasoactive drip management, ventilator care, blood product administration, arterial line management, and post-cardiac catheterization care
One period of pre-approved time off available per contract
Requirements:

Active RN license required
Minimum 2 years of recent hospital-based Telemetry experience required
Minimum 2 years of recent hospital-based Intermediate Care (IMC/PCU/Stepdown) experience required – hard stop requirement
Recent Epic EMR experience required – hard stop requirement
Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIHSS certification required
Must be comfortable with floating to all specialties across Med/Surg and IMC units
Must reside outside 50-mile local radius; local candidates not accepted
COVID-19 vaccination required with no exemptions
Influenza vaccination required with no exemptions
Two-step PPD required with no exceptions
Previous charge experience preferred
Clinical Expertise Required:

Experience caring for patients with acute respiratory distress, septic shock, hypertensive crisis, severe congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, and trauma
Competency in managing chest tubes, ventilators, tracheostomy care, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, lumbar and neuro drains, and PCAs
Proficiency with cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
Experience with blood transfusions, TPN, feeding tubes, post-cardiac catheterization care, TR Band management, and peritoneal dialysis
Ability to manage and titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and insulin drips
Skills in non-invasive airway management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and ventilated patient care

Additional Information:
Orientation includes non-billable modules averaging 4-8 hours, completed through the Relias/Net Learning portal. Modules are required during initial orientation and annually thereafter. Candidates must be available to work holidays and weekends as scheduled. After one year of assignment, a minimum 90-day separation is required before returning as a traveler.
