The BHUCC Nurse Assists with crisis interventions and medical emergencies, obtains vital signs each shift or more frequently as indicated. Communicate with other healthcare professionals during recovery partnership and transition phases, and liaison with other agencies as indicated. LPN is responsible for triaging referrals, completing LPN intake/assessments on all clients admitted during their shift, obtaining urine drug screens, BAL and pregnancy tests on admissions, obtaining admission standing orders, dispensing routine and PLPN medications, taking orders from prescriber and updating MAR, completing electronic and paper charting in a timely manner and participating in treatment team meetings when required. LPN is required to contact correct leadership in regard to denials and medical clearance. This position requires the LPN to provide direct medical care to clients, during 12 hour shifts, on a 23 hour Behavioral Health Urgent Care Unit. This position is required to provide nursing covering on a 12 hour shift despite any weather conditions or holidays that arise. Performs the initial admission nursing assessment and completes required admission paperwork including nursing assessment, nursing note and nursing admission orders. Follows all established protocols and guidelines for admission prior to admitting the client to the unit. Night shift will utilize the on-call PM prescriber for crisis services when medical advice or additional medication is needed. Completes charting for each client during every shift prior to the end of shift. Counts narcotics and documents at every shift change. Obtains and charts vital signs on every shift. Monitor for significant changes in client's condition/behavior every shift and make referrals to obtain new orders as needed. Triages potential referrals with Mobile Crisis and Walk in Center. Medical denials will be handled by Crisis Services Nursing Manager. ** Attend to guest and/or client needs during medical emergencies (ie: seizures, falls, etc) Coordinate with Emergency Departments and EMS Provide simple wound care when indicated. Complete nursing discharge note. Update Admission/Discharge log each time a client is admitted or transitioned from unit. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations (ie: infection control procedures/policy, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations).

Team Building:

Participates in orientation and training of new staff.
Participate in shift reports.
This includes training and covering Crisis Stabilization Unit shifts when deemed appropriate by Crisis Services Nursing Manager and Program Coordinator
Assists Mobile Crisis and Walk in Center when necessary to obtain vital signs on clients being referred to a higher level of care.

Schedule requires 12 hours shifts, rotating weekends, and scheduled holidays. The shifts are 6pm-6am.
Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift.
Travel :

~ Equipment/Technology : Basic computer skills are required for email, timekeeping, and documentation in the electronic medical record.
QUALIFICATIONS - BHUCC Nurse
LPN with current Tennessee license and experience in psychiatric and alcohol and drug treatment setting preferred.
Should have sound knowledge of psychiatric and detox medications, diagnoses, treatment modalities and interventions.
Applicable shift differentials are eligible for evening and overnight shifts. Schedule requires 12 hour shifts.

CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
