Pay Range: $16.20 - $21.77 per hour

Summary:
The Teacher Aide is a member of the teaching team who assists with the implementation of classroom activities, under the direct supervision of an Assistant Teacher, Teacher, or Lead Teacher. Teacher aides perform daily routine tasks that establish the basic foundation for a healthy, safe, and educational environment. Teacher Aides include student teachers, work/study students, summer work students, senior workers, and volunteers. Accountability: The Teacher Aide reports to the Lead Teacher. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:
- Warm, supportive attitude toward children and reliable
- HS Diploma or GED
- Flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program.
- Willing to accept supervision in order to improve performance.
- Must be willing to perform other duties as required.
- Students, youth and teacher aides may assist in the care of children provided that they:
- Are 14 years of age or older and at least five years older than the oldest child in the group.
- Assist only under the direct supervision of an early childhood teacher or a school-age worker; and
Are not counted for purposes of maintaining staff /child ratios, except as provided in Section 407.160(d)
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Must be physically able to perform the job of an early childhood teacher (e.g. able to lift children and/or equipment up to 40lbs; able to stoop, bend, sit and stand for extended periods of time).

- Supports culturally diverse experiences.
- Uses and promotes positive guidance techniques.
- Supports a wide variety of creative and expressive activities.
- Supports routines with smooth transition periods.
- Communicates with children at their developmental level.
- Encourages children to be independent.
- To establish positive and productive relationships with families: Greets parents at pick up and drop off times
- Supports positive relationships with families: Supports a variety of ways that families can participate in the program.
- To maintain a commitment to professionalism.
- Promotes the center's philosophy and educational objectives.
- Support the center's code of ethical conduct.
- Engages ongoing staff development to improve personal and professional goals.
- Supports the professional growth and development of colleagues by sharing materials and information and providing helpful feedback and encouragement
- Attends staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training provided by the center.
