Field Adjuster
Required: 5+ years of continuous property insurance adjusting experience involving complex loss valuation and scope analysis (homeowners & commercial property).

Review claim files assigned to appraisal to understand the dispute parameters and valuation issues in scope.

Perform loss inspections as necessary to evaluate disputed damages, including measurements, photo documentation, and condition assessments.

Act as the company’s appointed appraiser in accordance with the policy appraisal clause.

Exchange estimates, documentation, and supporting materials with the opposing appraiser.

Technical Analysis & Valuation Support

Review contractor estimates, expert reports, and supporting documentation for valuation relevance.

Document inspection findings, valuation rationale, and appraisal activity in the claim system.

Communicate professionally with opposing appraisers, umpires, internal claim partners, and other involved stakeholders.

Escalate non‑valuation or coverage‑related concerns to appropriate claim or legal resources without expanding appraisal scope.

5+ years of continuous property insurance adjusting experience involving complex loss valuation and scope analysis (homeowners & commercial property).

Preferred to have demonstrated experience handling claims that involve Appraisal Under the Policy or other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, but willing to train candidates with strong adjusting and estimating backgrounds who demonstrate aptitude for complex valuation disputes.

Familiarity with building construction, repair methodologies, and practical application of local code compliance requirements.

Experience working with independent adjusters, contractors, engineers, and consultants.

Regulatory & Educational Requirements

Active state adjuster license(s). Knowledge of state‑specific appraisal laws, claim handling regulations, and policy application standards related to valuation and appraisal procedures.

AIC, CPCU, PTC, or similar property insurance credentials.

Xactimate Level 2 or 3 Certification.

Building/Restoration certifications (IICRC, HAAG, etc.) Examines insurance policies and other records to determine insurance coverage.

Interviews, telephones, and/or corresponds with claimant and witnesses regarding claim.

Consults police and hospital records and inspects property damage to determine extent of company’s liability and varying methods of investigation according to type of insurance.

Recommends litigation by legal department when settlement cannot be negotiated.

Attends litigation hearings.

Revises case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs.

Assists in preparing loss experience report to help determine profitability and calculates adequate future rates.

Supports the organization’s quality program(s).

Travels as required.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Appropriate state adjuster license is required.

PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.

Strong customer service skills.

Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.

Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions.
