Salary: $120,000 - $141,000 per hour

Registered Nurse - ICU - Full Time

Position may qualify for employee referral bonus. $20k sign on bonus with 3+ years experience as RN. 1-3 years, $5000 sign on bonus. Shift: 6:45am - 7:15pm

The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

Under the general direction of the Unit Director, Clinical Manager and Charge Nurse, the R.Registered Nurse) independently provides holistic, individualized care using the Nursing Process for patients routinely seen on the unit. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, Nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View Medical Center Department of Patient Care Services and the Nursing profession in a positive manner.

Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act. (Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization’s standards/code of conduct.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to calculate medications appropriate to patient population served.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. 1 * Is responsible for the assessment, treatment and/or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. 2 * Utilizes holistic assessment skills, recognizing subtle, covert or abnormal signs and symptoms that include at least one of the following: involvement of patient/significant other, discharge needs, psychosocial needs, biophysical needs, environmental needs, teaching needs.

3 * Identifies nursing diagnosis and interdependent nursing problems and selects applicable nursing care standards to guide patient care. 4 Ensures that the Care Plan is specific and unique to the individual patient utilizing Interdependent Nursing Standards and the discharge needs of complex/multi-system patients.

1. According to established clinical policy, procedure and standards, the R.N. safely performs nursing care including safe administration of medication, troubleshoots equipment and demonstrates skill in clinical problem solving.
2. Ensures that the nursing care provided is consistent with the established Nursing Plan of Care, the Medical Plan of Care and the ages of the patients served.
3. The effectiveness of the Plan of Care is evaluated and communicated through exchange report; recommendations are made for future care and are consistent with current documentation.
4. Communicates evaluation of, or changes in, patient status providing supportive data to the physician or health care team as appropriate.

10 * Documentation reflects compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures.

1. Completes required unit specific performance criteria checklist.
2. Demonstrates proper Infection Prevention skills to include Standardized Protocols or procedures related to central lines and indwelling Foley catheters.
3. Reports quality or Risk Management issues through appropriate lines of authority, i.e. administrative or clinical.
4. Maintains current knowledge of health care trends that affect the clinical practice of Nursing on the unit.

1. Upholds all aspects of the Nursing Practice Act as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
2. Provides evidence of adherence to all nine (9) ANA Code of Ethics for the Nursing profession.

INTENSIVE CARE UNIT SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1 * On the shift assigned, performs the role of Intensive Care Unit R.N. according to the policies and procedures of Sierra View Medical Center and Critical Care Services.

5 * Communicates patient needs with other care providers in an effective and timely manner.

1. Ensures the ICU rooms are set up properly to receive the critically ill patient in an efficient manner.
2. Demonstrates ability to care for the ICU patient population by passing the annual unit-specific competencies.
3. Is ready for shift huddle. Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
