Unit Overview (PICU / PCICU)

• 1923 Bed Pediatric ICU
• Average Census: 1518 patients/day
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 2:1

~ Patient Population:

• Respiratory conditions
• Congenital heart disease
• Hematology/Oncology
• Post-operative care
• Trauma cases

Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality critical care to pediatric patients
Manage ventilators, drips, and post-op recovery
Collaborate with intensivists and multidisciplinary teams
Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC
Float as needed within pediatric units
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of PICU experience
Active Illinois RN License
BLS & PALS Certification (Required)
NRP (Preferred)
First-time travelers accepted
Support & Staffing
Charge Nurse available on every shift
CNA support for patient care & room turnover
Respiratory Therapy 24/7
Hospitalist & Intensivist coverage 24/7
IV/VAT Team available
Phlebotomy services in-house
Telemetry monitoring when needed

Scheduling & Shift Details
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM 7:00 AM)
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: 75% of holidays
Schedule Cycle: 6 weeks
RTO: Requires Resource Team approval
Orientation

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• 2 days unit-specific orientation (PICU/PCICU)
