Security Professional (weekend/overnight shift)

Overview Security Officer position located at Rosie's Emporia, VA. Requisition ID 4541. JOB SUMMARY Responsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, team members, and vendors. Ensure the safety and security of the property and its patrons. Respond to security incidents and maintain a visible security presence inside and outside the facility. Observe patrons participating in gambling activities to detect and respond to infractions of house rules. Represent the Company with professionalism, customer service, and integrity in all interactions with guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide a high level of guest service to all guests, Team Members, and vendors.

Ensure the safety of all guests and Team Members on the property.

Record investigation and incident reports in a timely manner.

Assist with the transfer of money throughout the property.

Patrol the property during shift to ensure safety.

Ensure property rules, policies, and regulations set by the Company and the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC) are followed.

Stand posts in various locations for extended periods as assigned.

Control and diffuse potential problems and assist Team Members and guests in emergencies.

Control access to the property and restricted areas.

Respond to calls for assistance immediately and maintain radio contact with base during assigned shift.

Check identification for gaming floor admittance and greet guests and vendors professionally.

Maintain crowd control and defuse guest incidents.

Compose written reports, observe and report procedural violations and illegal activity.

Report to supervisor/manager on day-to-day activities and attend periodic meetings and training sessions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Successful completion of training programs as required by jurisdiction and property.

Ability to communicate and comprehend information and ideas in spoken and written English.

Ability to accept, prioritize, and follow through on work direction.

Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.

Ability to remain calm, utilize rational thinking, and employ conflict-resolution.

Ability to work with both guests and fellow Team Members in a professional and courteous manner, promoting positive customer relations by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service, law enforcement, military, or security, or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Basic computer skills such as knowledge of Word and ability to learn and utilize menu-driven programs.

Must obtain valid racing license, where applicable.

May be required to hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of three years driving experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent standing or sitting for extended periods; walking; using hands to finger, reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climbing or balancing; kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talking or hearing.

May be required to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.

Noise level usually moderate to loud.

Environment may include flashing lights.

Subject to circulate throughout assigned areas, including the smoking area, actively observing players and machines.
