Emergency Department TechnicianEmergency medicine demands professionals who can think critically, adapt quickly, and provide exceptional care when patients need it most. As an Emergency Department Technician at UVA Health, you'll play a vital role in supporting patient care within one of the hospital's most dynamic and high-acuity clinical environments. This role offers the opportunity to utilize your EMT training in a hospital-based emergency setting while working alongside physicians, nurses, residents, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. The Role As an Emergency Department Technician, you will be an integral member of a highly collaborative care team serving a diverse patient population across a fast-paced Emergency Department. This is a 100% patient-facing position where no two days are alike, and every shift presents opportunities to learn, contribute, and positively impact patient outcomes. Obtain vital signs and perform 12-lead EKGsPlace peripheral IVs and collect laboratory specimensAssist with wound care and clinical proceduresSupport patient mobility, hygiene, and comfort needsAssist with catheter-related proceduresMonitor patient conditions and communicate concerns to clinical teamsSupport EMS arrivals and patient stabilizationParticipate in trauma activations and emergency response workflowsAssist with patient movement and overall department operationsPartner closely with nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient careEmergency Department Technicians rotate through multiple areas of the department, including trauma care areas, triage support, behavioral health environments, and patient flow operations. Certified Nursing Assistant in the Commonwealth of VirginiaEmergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of VirginiaMilitary Corpsmen/Medic (Combat Medic Specialist / Tactical Combat Casualty Care / Tactical Paramedic) NREMT certification or Tactical Responder CertificationLPN license in the Commonwealth of VirginiaGraduate of a certified nursing programPatient Care Technician Certification, preferred National Center of Competency TestingCurrently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Clinical Experience and DidacticPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of VirginiaThe pay range for this role is $16.07 - $24.36 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only).
