Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,180–$2,290

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)

Contract: 13 weeks

End Date: January 18, 2027

Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. – Schedule: 3 or 4 shifts per week; Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, approximately 2–4 weekend shifts during the contract

Floating: Within Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby/Postpartum areas as needed

Charting: Epic experience preferred

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience; Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license at the time of submission

Demonstrated ability to work across Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, and postpartum areas

First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care for antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients

Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment

Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and obstetric emergencies

Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, forceps and vacuum deliveries, and high-risk births

Circulate for cesarean sections and provide immediate newborn support, including baby-catching responsibilities as assigned

Administer and monitor oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, prostaglandins, epidural anesthesia, and other medications or infusions as ordered

Perform triage assessments, sterile vaginal examinations, admission assessments, newborn assessments, and postpartum evaluations

Support breastfeeding and lactation education, discharge teaching, newborn safety, and car seat education

Care for newborns typically 35 weeks gestation and older, stabilizing and preparing patients for transfer when higher-level care is needed

Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the care team
