Project Engineer (Commercial Construction)

Experience Level: 2–5 years

A tight‑knit, family‑oriented commercial builder is seeking a Project Engineer who thrives in a fast‑moving environment, enjoys wearing many hats, and is eager to grow into a future Project Manager. You’ll be the sole PE on staff, working directly with senior leadership and supporting projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is ideal for someone humble, organized, proactive, and excited to learn every aspect of project delivery.

Construction document review — analyze plans, specs, and project requirements

RFI coordination — draft, submit, and follow through

Owner billing — prepare monthly billing packages

Scheduling assistance — support development and monitoring of project schedules

Subcontractor packages — assemble, track, and maintain documentation

OAC meeting participation — prepare materials and support communication

Punchlist & closeout — help drive completion and turnover

Cloud‑based project documentation — maintain organized, accurate project records

Client & subcontractor communication — act as a proactive liaison

Safety support — assist superintendent with site safety needs

Manage multiple projects simultaneously and support delivery through warranty phase

2–5 years as a Project Engineer in commercial construction

• Strong proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Excel
• must be confident managing projects in Microsoft tools
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation
• Construction management education or background

Experience supporting ground‑up, retail, fitness, or redevelopment projects

Clear path to Project Manager (not immediate; Opportunity to help train a future junior PE

Direct exposure to senior leadership and operations

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Englewood, CO.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
